Last Day in Bandung

I’ve managed to spend 17 days here in Bandung and I’ve enjoyed my time. I was intrigued by this city when I first explored it last year. That time I didn’t spend much time here, just a day, but something about the place struck a chord.

I am happy that I was able to come back to explore deeper. I still have some culture shock, like cars driving on the left, but overall it feels good. I hope that someday I’ll get the chance to come back.

The green space, the friendly people, the good food, and the arts culture are big draws. Of course it isn’t perfect. The dense traffic, and the fact that all traffic rules, including one-way streets, are optional are hard to get used to. I’ve been getting steadily better at crossing streets as a pedestrian.

I spent the last day planning for tomorrow’s travel day to Kuala Lumpur. I need to take the train from Bandung back to Jakarta, then get from the train station to the airport. That process will take a couple of hours, and I know I need to get to the airport about three hours ahead of my flight.

I also got to see my new friends at Kanigara and at a small warung called Roemah Makan 88. I have been eating there regularly and the Aunties have been helping me figure out what all the food is how it is cooked. I promised them I’d be back and I know that I will.
